strategy-first brand studio
about clever octopus
the thinking behind clever octopus
Clever Octopus is a strategy-first brand studio founded by Megan Weight in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
The studio was built on a simple belief: strong brands begin with clear thinking. Before anything is designed, we step back to define who a brand is for, what it stands for, and how it needs to show up in the world. From there, strategy is translated into brand identity, photography and marketing that feel intentional, cohesive and aligned.
Clever Octopus operates as a boutique studio rather than a traditional agency. When you work with Clever Octopus, you work directly with Megan from the first conversation through to the final outcome, no layers of middle management or disconnected handovers, just thoughtful collaboration and clear communication.
When projects require additional expertise, such as web development or specialised production, trusted collaborators are brought in where they add value. This flexible model ensures every project receives the attention, care and strategic thinking it deserves.
The result is branding that isn’t just visually appealing, it communicates clearly, holds together across every touchpoint, and supports businesses as they grow.
Our Approach
Branding isn’t decoration. It’s a process of defining identity, refining communication and creating systems that allow a business to show up consistently and confidently.
At Clever Octopus, projects typically move through three stages:
Strategy → defining your position and message
Identity → translating that thinking into a visual system
Activation → bringing the brand to life through photography, campaigns and marketing
This approach ensures every decision is intentional, and every element works together.
Who We Work With
Clever Octopus partners with founders, organisations and regional businesses that understand the value of thoughtful branding.
Our clients range from emerging businesses finding their voice to established organisations ready to evolve their brand.
What they share is a desire to build brands that stand out for the right reasons, brands that feel authentic, considered and distinctive.
Working from regional Western Australia also means we understand the unique challenges and opportunities faced by businesses outside major cities. Many of our clients are based across the Great Southern and wider Western Australia, though projects increasingly extend further afield.
Our Promise
When you choose Clever Octopus, you’re not just a client, you become part of our creative family.
We believe in building honest, long-lasting relationships where ideas spark, inspiration flows, and businesses thrive.
From the first spark of an idea to the final delivery, we guide you with clarity, creativity, and unwavering support. Together, we’ll craft a brand that’s bold, distinctive, and unforgettable, one that feels like you and connects deeply with your community.

This Is Our
A word from the founder
Clever Octopus is led by Megan Weight, strategic brand developer, designer and photographer.
After years working across branding, marketing and visual storytelling, Megan founded Clever Octopus to create a different kind of studio, one grounded in thoughtful strategy, human-centred design and genuine collaboration.
“I started Clever Octopus because I saw too many brilliant businesses hiding beneath the surface. They had heart and passion, but their brands weren’t showing their true value.
Branding should help people see the depth of what a business really is. It should clarify ideas, strengthen confidence and create connection.
That’s the work we do here.”

built on connection
At its core, Clever Octopus is about helping businesses uncover what makes them meaningful and communicate it with clarity.
When strategy, design and storytelling work together, a brand becomes more than a logo or a website. It becomes something people recognise, remember and trust.
That’s where real growth begins.
If your brand is ready to reflect the depth of your business, let’s start the conversation.
